Our Projects

Our Pembroke Kiwanis Club involved in a variety of projects that involve community service, and assisting children locally and worldwide.  OVer our long history we have been instrumental in such notable projects as the Kiwanis Walkway at the Pembroke Waterfront, the Pembroke Welcome Centre and the Audiology Facility at the Pembroke Regional Hospital.

Below are the projects in which we are currently involved:
 

Riverside Splash Pad 

A joint project with Bogey's Bar, Province of Ontario Funding a Splash Pad was rebuilt and expanded in the City of Pembroke's Riverside Park. Its a popular spot used by visitors of the park through out the summer. The project was completed in 2012 and the funding completed in 2013

Kiwanis Internation Eliminate Project

Kiwanis International has understaken this $110 million project to eliminate eliminated maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) thoroughout the world. MNT kills a child every 9 minutes. Complete information is available at the Kiwanis International Foundation Site.

Service Level Clubs

The Club sponsors student clubs:Builders Club at Highview, Key Club at Fellows High School, Aktion Club and Circle K at Algonquin. Developing community minded leaders for the future.

Snowsuit Fund

This ongoing project provides snowsuits for children in the Pembroke area to keep them warm in our cold winters. Applications can be made by completing the linked form or picking up a form at the Salvation Army office. 

Algonquin College Capital Fund

Algonquin College built a new campus on the shore of the Ottawa River that opened in Pembroke in 2012. Our Club was one of the first constributors to the capital program that made this project possible as a wonderful facillity for the young people of the area. 

 

Hydrotherapy  Program

A project co-ordinated by Kiwanian Robert McLaughlin that provides weekly transportation and hydrotherapy session at the Kinsmen Pool for children in the Pembroke area.
