Would You Like to Become a Member?

If you clicked on this page hopefully you at least are a little bit interested (or curious) about joining the Kiwanis Movement through the Pembroke Club. Our web site provides some information to get you aqainted with what our local club is doing and the Kiwanis International web site will provide information on what the greater organization is doing.

With any organization it is important to know what their goals and aspirations are. The Kiwanis Objects, unchanged since they were penned in 1924 are:

To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life.
To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.
To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business and professional standards.
To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship.
To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service and to build better communities.
To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and goodwill.

Membership means attending weekly meeting when you are able, enjoying a good lunch ($13) fellowship and hearing a speaker enlighten on a variety of topics, joining a committee to work on the various projects, enjoying our social activies throughout the year and most importantly knowing that you are contributing to the community and its children both locally and throughout the world. Since all of funding raising monies are used for projects there is an annual membership dues of $180 to support our International Organization, local administration costs and the monthly Kiwanis magazine.

I invite you to give serious consideration to joining us as a member of Kiwanis in Pembroke and our mission of making children a priority in this community, as well as being part of a dynamic International Organization that brings health, support and opportunities of growth for children and young people around the Globe.

Please do not hesitate to contact me (613-735-1055, for information or answers to any questions you may have about Kiwanis.  In whatever way you might be able to participate, we would look forward to welcoming you in Kiwanis.

Changing tomorrows today by building bridges for children to the future, I am,

Roger Steinke, Chair of Membership and Education
